Faith under water

Earlier this year, I had a dream that my family was underwater. I could see each of my sons underwater, along with my husband. We had our hands huddled together like a team about to play a ball game. When I woke up, I sat quietly in the presence of the Lord. Whenever I dream, I take note of the details to see what the Lord may be saying to me.

I realized in the dream that although we were underwater, we weren’t panicked or afraid. God was with us. Our hands together were a symbol of God’s hand. I knew that we could get through whatever came our way as long as we didn’t let go of God’s hand.

In the last few months of this year, our family went through a season of sicknesses. We experienced COVID, migraines, nightmares, a sprained ankle, and more. Many times during the night, I walked into each of my boys’ rooms and prayed over them. I played worship music to set the atmosphere and to keep my mind at rest in the Lord. I cried, I prayed, and I worshipped God. I called on intercessors to pray and agree with me. I refused to allow fear to enter our minds. I planted my feet in faith, believing God at all cost. I was grounded in Him.

After a conversation and prayer with my brother, he told me to rejoice and stand in victory! I was filled with God’s joy and encouragement. I was expecting God to do just what he promised. Not too long afterward, my house was back to normal. It was noisy and playful. It was a beautiful sound. There was so much that I learned through our “underwater experience.” Whatever situation you find yourself in, remember these three things;

  1. Hold on to God’s hand. Isaiah 41:10 says, Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.
  2. Shift the atmosphere to worship. Revelation 19:1 says, After these things I heard something like the great and mighty shout of a vast multitude in heaven, exclaiming, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory (splendor, majesty) and power (dominion, might) belong to our God.
  3. Rejoice in the promise of God. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice always and delight in your faith; be unceasing and persistent in prayer; in every situation (no matter what the circumstances) be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.

Only God knows what the future holds. We have to place our confidence in Him. Let us not waver in faith, but stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. He will see us through. Even in your own underwater experience, you are not alone. Let your heart be encouraged. As always, take time to go inward in prayer. I am praying for you. Happy New Year!

  1. Thank you Pam. This is very touching. Also know that as you were crying and praying for your family, I was also crying and praying for you all. Having God as our anchor and protector makes everything easier to deal with.

    I am so grateful for your presence in my life and our collective lives. Many thanks for sharing inspiration, hope and joy during these unsettling times.
