Be Well

Beloved, I pray that in every way you may prosper and enjoy good health, as your soul also prospers. 3 John 1:2 (ESV)

I can’t begin to put into words my thoughts and feelings about 2020. However, there is one constant that was confirmed over and over again during this pandemic; prayer is my refuge. Everything that happened this year drove me to prayer.

This year God established his presence in my life like none other. The way that He comforted me and reminded me of His words encouraged my heart. The times when I felt completely overwhelmed by the news and social media, He calmed my soul. His holy spirit pushed me to pray and to seek refuge in His tabernacle.

When I would wake up in the middle of the night unable to sleep due to the burdens of those who I knew were experiencing unimaginable grief and sadness, He was with me and I knew that He was with the ones that I was praying for. My silent tears became worship unto Him. When friends called on me to pray, although I didn’t have the words, He was with me. He encouraged my heart and reaffirmed my faith in Him. He has helped me not to lose hope in what he has for me.

I know there are many things we could complain about when it comes to 2020, but I challenge you to stop and think about what the Lord did for you. Thank him for the doors that he closed and the new ones that he opened. Thank Him for placing the faith in you to try new things. Thank him that you were the shoulder your friends could call on to pray or encourage them. Be thankful that you were able to share in the sorrow and the pain of loved ones by lifting them in prayer. Be thankful that although things had to come to this, we are finding our way back to our first love. Be thankful that God is removing all of the debris from our eyes and our hearts so that we can see Him again.

Some of us have found our voices. We are no longer afraid to speak out against the social injustices that we are faced with. Some of us have received the mantle of Esther, and He has moved us into positions for such a time as this. He has rekindled old passions, and we are starting to move in the right direction.

Wherever you find yourself, be well. Be well in your mind. Be at peace with what God has allowed and know beyond a doubt that He loves you and cares for you. He will give you the peace that you need that surpasses all understanding. When you don’t understand what is happening or even why it’s happening, ask God to give you peace.

Be well in your body. Take care of yourself through exercise and making healthy choices. Be sure to eat in moderation. Ask God for wisdom and understanding when it comes to caring for yourself and your family. What will you do to become more active? What new meals will you make?

Be well in your soul. If there’s ever a time that we need a Savior, it is now. Jesus is everything that we need. Stay close to Him. He is a forgiving God. Even when we make mistakes, His word tells us to come to him, admit our wrongdoings, and He is faithful and just to forgive us. He is our peace, our protection, and our provider. He promises never to leave us or forsake us. You will always find refuge in Him. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and go inward to pray. Allow His peace to wash over you. Be well in 2021.

  1. This post certainly summarized my year. It was a blessing waking up to this news. The Good News you were sharing of Jesus. Christ. Not the media etc. I will stop there. ..lol Your title says “Be Welll” and so we will say to that in agreement that “It is well”!

  2. This is awesome Pam! One of my sayings to my friends and family who are going through is “Just BE”. So this ties in nicely with that. God bless your ministry and your summary of the year was excellent! God bless you!
