I miss seeing my family and friends. I miss going into work and seeing my co-workers. I miss my place of employment and providing support to the teachers, students, and families with whom I work. While I understand the importance of social distancing, I realize that I miss the comfort of people.
Thankfully technology has made it easier for us to connect to family and friends through FaceTime and many other ways. We can use Zoom for our work meetings and even our children can log in and connect with their teachers and friends. I watched my son log in to his virtual class earlier this week as he saw his teacher and friends for the first time in three weeks. The smile on his face and even his shyness was something that I will always remember.
We now have access to more weekly church services, online prayer meetings, and bible study. We have learned to understand that we are the church. God’s presence dwells where we are. We can use social media to spread the Gospel of Christ and still win souls. We understand that God’s word cannot be bound. We have learned to give thanks for every vehicle that’s available to share the love of Christ.
While we are in the comfort of our homes, some of us may be feeling the heaviness of being alone. Perhaps for some, this may feel like too much to bear. The beauty of this pandemic is that we are not alone. We are all experiencing this together. Take this time to reach out and check on loved ones.
How to stay connected?
- Connect to God in prayer. Time is a gift. God has given us time to get our lives right with him. Do you need God’s forgiveness? Do you need God to restore a broken relationship? What do you need from God? What does God need from you? Go inward and connect with him through prayer.
- Connect with yourself. Be easy on yourself. The situation that we all are in is traumatic. It takes time to process things emotionally and mentally. Allow yourself the time and space to breathe deeply. Journaling is an excellent way of jotting down your feelings and emotions during this time. Exercise and fresh air are ways to care for our physical selves. Sometimes a change of scenery does the body good. Refresh and rejuvenate.
- Connect with family and friends. Call a friend. Organize a family Zoom meeting. Connect with people on a personal level. Laugh with a friend and cry if you need to remind yourself, your not alone. Send a letter or a care package to someone. Do something good for someone else and watch how God blesses you.
Don’t go through this alone. We serve a God that is our provider. He has provided many vehicles for us to stay connected, world-wide. This week I have been meditating on scripture found in 1 Corinthians 12:12. It says: For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. I found this scripture to be fitting for what we are going through. We are all a part of the body of Christ. We need one another to survive. Let us all remain connected in prayer for one another.
Go inward. Pray for others. Stay connected. Please like, follow and share my blog. Be blessed.
Thank you for this. I needed this during this time.
