Celebrate Your “Almost” Moments!

One day while coming home, a saw a mail truck at the top of the hill of the same one-lane road that I was driving on. Judging the distance of the mail truck, I knew that I had enough time to drive up and make a turn on the next street. As I began to drive, I noticed the mail truck was coming full speed towards me. There I was in a minivan full of my favorite little people with nowhere to go. Moving to the right or left of the road was not an option. I blew my horn as long as I could hoping the oncoming distracted driver would look up and see us in front of her. She finally noticed us and had just enough time to slow down and turn her vehicle so that she would not run into us. Sitting in silence with a racing heartbeat, one of my boys yelled out, “Mommy, we were almost in an accident!” I immediately gave God praise for his protection.

I want to encourage you to learn to give God praise for every “almost” moment you had in your life. God is masterful in knowing what is best for us. He knows which direction we should take and which job is not for us. He knows which relationship will bring us love and peace and those that will be a detriment to our soul. He can see beyond what we can see. Wherever you find yourself, be grateful for his protection in your lives. Thank God for every closed door. The Bible says the steps of a righteous man are ordered by God (Psalms 37:23). As we step out on faith, God will lead us to where He wants us. There is no place I want to be without God’s approval. What about you?

Perhaps you are in a place where you are still waiting for that defining moment in your life. The enemy is trying his best to whisper in your ear that your “almost” means nothing. He wants you to believe that you are stuck when in fact you are moving. He wants you to believe that nothing is working out for you. That is simply not true. He is the father of lies. I’m here to remind you that your “almost” moments can be claimed as victories! Every “almost” moment leads you to where you are supposed to be. None of your steps have been wasted! Instead, God is leading you to where He wants you to be.

Remember this:

  1. Every closed door is a blessing in disguise! Be thankful for your “almost” moments. You almost married the wrong person, but God gave you insight. You were almost in a car accident, but God protected you. You almost accepted the wrong position, but God gave you wisdom. Celebrate your “almost” moments!
  2. Even when you are out of place, your steps are in God’s plan. None of your steps have been wasted. God continues to lead you on a path of victory. Continue to seek Him and He will guide you. (Jeremiah 29:11)
  3. Whatever state you find yourself in, still give God praise. There is a reason for what you are experiencing. God is building your character and increasing your faith in Him. Do not lose hope, do not be discouraged. God’s word is a light unto our path (Psalms 119:105). He will illuminate your steps. You will look back and see how He is guiding you to your place of destiny!
