When we face difficult and challenging times in our lives, we must cling to God in prayer. God is our hope and the God of restoration. Psalms 34:18 reminds us that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. No matter what we are going through, we must choose a life of prayer.
As I said in my previous blog post, 2020 raised the bar when it came to my prayer life. I prayed intense prayers and prayers that didn’t have any words but many tears. I prayed to God when I felt angry, and I prayed to God when I felt anxious. I prayed for others, and others prayed for me. No matter how I prayed, I always found myself in pursuit of prayer because God always met me there.
There are moments in life that we will face that will push us to a place of prayer or keep us in a place of continued pain. We cannot navigate the uncharted waters without being in pursuit of prayer. Prayer provides direction and insight. Prayer releases us from pain. In prayer, we can receive answers to difficult decisions and feel God’s peace as we move forward in our journey. He sees what is ahead of us and knows how to prepare our hearts for what is to come.
I pray that whatever state you may find yourself in, may you choose to be in pursuit of prayer. God will meet you there. He’s waiting to heal your wounds and restore joy to your heart. God will speak peace over your mind and calm your soul. He wants to counsel you and give you wisdom. Meet him in prayer, and you will find rest for your weary soul.
There will be some troubling days ahead of us. But John 16:33 gives us hope because Jesus tells us, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Praise God that He has overcome this world, and we can have peace in Him. No matter how dark this world becomes, Christ is our guiding light. Press your way into your prayer closet. Press past your pain, press past your fears, and press past your worries. We must not lose our hope or faith in Him. We must be in pursuit of prayer.
