Call on Him

By: Guest Blogger, Tina Bibb

Every day on the news, we continue to be bombarded with all these things that are against us. Primarily, Covid-19 is the headline of today’s topic in all areas. The saving grace is that despite all the burdens 2020 came with, we have a God that can carry the weight of everything we would ever encounter. He is concerned about us.

He is waiting for us to call upon Him for help. The problem is that this world does not want His help. The world would rather call on curse words, people, finances, movies, documentaries to look for answers than to call on the one and only true deliverer, Jesus Christ.

For example, many people have shared with me that they were lucky to be alive after almost being in an accident. However, I know that it was not luck that saved me. It was because I called upon the name of Jesus. Psalms 20:1 says that “In times of trouble, may the Lord answer the God of Jacob and keep you safe from all harm.” It was not by chance that the Lord spared my life that day.

He already decided before the foundation of the world that he would spare my life that particular day. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that “For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”

There is nothing that catches God by surprise. Covid-19 did not catch him by surprise. Believe it or not, God has already made provisions for his people. The Lord is our refuge and we can take cover in him. Let us hide under the shadow of the Almighty. Let us not call on something that is deaf and dumb, but call upon the Lord, while He can be found. He is the only one who can answer our prayer.

How can you praise “luck”? Man would say that it is by chance or something in the universe that made a situation turn in your favor. Why not just give credit to God? Let us begin to thank God for what did not happen this year. Let us thank Him that we are still here in the land of the living.

Let us remain in a posture of gratitude. Let us call upon a saving God while he may be found.

Dear Lord,

We thank you that we can call upon you and that you will hear our prayers. We thank you that when we call on you, you will save us, protect us, and deliver us. We cannot say thank you enough for your goodness.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
